Karnan A movie that is visually beautiful and socially impactful is one best adaptation of Indian mythology. Karnan shed light on the hardship the unprivileged group has to face in society but this time with some commercial touch to it. The film is full of symbols which for shadows the events which happen later in the movie. In this film not just the humans become the character’s but from a snail to the mountains are part of the story make this movie a unique experience. Minnal Murali To make a superhero movie that suits Kerala culture is not an easy job. The tight screenplay of this film makes it a good story even if we take out the superhero elements. Shang Chi and Legend of The Ten Rings Review
Being a Marvel fan over the years there is nothing but joy watching a Marvel movie in the theater and after Spider-Man Far From Home, it took almost two years to watch another one on the big screen thank pandemic for it. I was not missing the MCU content because their recent web series like Loki and Wand Vision was fun to watch but still experiencing an MCU movie on the big screen is a different feeling. Finally, theaters open in my state, and Shang Chi and the legend of the Ten Rings was among the first release in my state and went into the theater the first day itself on and I was and happy to relive the experience once again.
Coming to the movie Shang Chi has all the MCUism’s but still unique film it on. Shang Chi was an adaption Marvel comic’s first Asian superhero, Shang Chi was inspired by the popularity of Bruce Lee’s movies so this movie nice mixture of martial arts movies and comic book movies. Shang Chi and the legend of the ten rings is a nice blending of comedy, action, and emotions. The core part of the movie is the relation between Shan Chi and his father Wenwu and his sister Xiang. The Visuals of the movie are stunning and the world-building and mixing of culture were interesting to watch and take Marvel Cinematic Universe to new realms. Well, we cant praise without mentioning the action sequences. All the martial arts sequences were well choreographed especially the action scene on the bus.
The performances are the highlight of the movie Simu Liu as Shang Chi and Awkkwafina had good chemistry and Benkingsly was hilarious with his performance but the stand out for me Tony Leung as XU Wenwu. To Leung was perfect in the role we can feel his emotions touching us. Like, mention what makes this a unique experience is that it typical hero vs villain it is the character journey of Shang Chi and he rediscovering himself and letting go of his tragic past, this movie is also about his father and his sister as well. Shang Chi is an interesting addition to the MCU canon and can’t wait to see how MCU will carry this character forward.
Mayavi This is a comic which is running since 1984. Mayavi is a fairy or can be termed as something like a genie in Aladin who was found by two kids named Raju and Radha and they became lifelong friends. The story doesn't stop there Mayavi is hunted by Witches named Kuttusan and Dakini along with their apprentice who is another fairy Luttapi. The entire comic is about their adventures that take place in this world. These characters and huge fanbase and everyone would happy to see a well adapted Mayavi show or a movie. Rather than a kids-friendly adaptation serious take on it will be interesting. A Stranger Things kind of vibe will be perfect for Mayavi. The Green Knight Review The Green Knight is a slow-burn fantasy movie that has a deep story. I am not a big fan of slow movies which have inner meanings to them, that doesn’t mean I hate these m movies but they are not my first preference, still, there are a few slow movies which I like. The Green Knight has stunning visuals which should be enjoyed on the big screen and maybe this is the reason I didn’t enjoy the movie that much. The Green night is not a bad film but it was for me. Doctor starring Siva Karthikeyan is a complete entertainer which also has some flaws. The director Nelson knows how to make an engaging movie from start to end. Well, the movie has its cringe moments especially and the second which prevents it from being from a perfect film. Some sequences are hard to believe which breaks the reality the movie is set in. The protagonist doctor is an interesting character but felt he should have flushed out more and we need a sequel to know more about him. That is another problem I have with the film rest characters were just there and we never connect with all of them. The villain did not feel dangerous with the hype given to him he was like a typical bad guy.
